Ruston & Hornsby 48DLG Diesel Locomotive
This locomotive was purchased by Gresford Colliery, near Wrexham, North Wales, by the (then) National Coal Board. It bore the title No.3 Berwyn, and operated at Point of Ayr on the North Wales coast. Then it was sold to Amalgamated Construction, of Barnsley. In the late 1980s, it was purchased by a WHR member.
This is a locomotive designed for underground work. It has an exhaust conditioner, flame proofing and special casings for the electrics to prevent sparks.
