We provide a short train ride in historic narrow-gauge railway carriages out to and back from Pen-y-Mount station, with, on the way back, a stop of around half an hour to explore our extensive all weather, hands-on railway heritage centre, and opportunities to ride on our miniature railway.

The train departs from Porthmadog (WHHR) Station, just across the road from Porthmadog’s main line (Cambrian Coast) railway station, and gets back in about an hour. It is hauled by a steam locomotive when enough volunteer staff are available, otherwise or at quieter times by a diesel locomotive.

Before and after the trip you can also visit our shop, which is well stocked with gifts, toys, railway models and books, and Russell's Café, which serves freshly prepared food and drink. A car park is available free of charge to visitors, although it can get full at busy times.

Train services for 2023 operate from early April through to early November, please see the timetable and events page and the timetable leaflet page for details.

Tickets are valid for unlimited travel on day of purchase, and a family ticket (maximum 2 adults 2 children) costs £34. Please see the fares page for more details. Also please keep an eye on our Facebook page facebook.com/WHHRly for the latest updates.

Our shop staff continue to welcome orders by email or by post. Details of some of the items on offer are shown on our Facebook pages. Enquiries are welcome, please leave a message on 01766 513402 or email info@whr.co.uk. The shop itself may also be open on additional days when the railway is not operating, please check in advance before making a special journey.

Please keep an eye on Russell’s Café Facebook page for updates on café opening times and menus.

We continue to wish everyone well and look forward to your continued support.
