3rd January 2017 news update from our man on the ground Andy Carter.

There's been plenty going on over the Christmas / New Year period...

Pont Hoppe (our bridge over the Tremadog Canal adjacent to Gelert's Farm) has been jacked up, the old rubber pads removed and new ones put in. There is some levelling of the track to do, painting of the outriggers and handrails and putting in new boards.

On the seven and a quarter inch gauge miniature railway the viaduct has a large hole at one end where Tony has been stripping out the rotten wood from the deck and end couple of supports.

Geoff Jenkins has been needle gunning the steelwork of the box van in the C&W shed.

The fuse-board in the cafe has been replaced and raised so a new worktop can be fitted.

The chassis of Coach 42 is being primed (see the earlier update from our carriage and wagon department).

The detector and signal on the run-round point at Pen-y-Mount has been wired up.

The lights in the grinder room and RED shed store have been replaced.

Coach 6 and the VoR have been moved into the C&W shed for some fettling.

The reciprocating saw which has been sitting outside the machine shop for the past 3 years is finally in place and wired up. Works very well and has a working cutting fluid pump and automatic switch-off so you don't have to stand by it! The old saw is waiting transportation to its final resting place.

Stocktaking has been done in the shop.

There's always something going on at the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway in Porthmadog - why don't you get involved?
